Rivian
2017 - 2020
Rivian was a truly special chapter in my career. It was another clean-sheet opportunity—not just from a human-centered design standpoint, but also in building an experience team from the ground up.
The team I built was responsible for crafting the entire user experience within the vehicle—everything from the door handles to the steering wheel switch packs, and all the digital touchpoints in between. And when I say everything, I mean it. It was an incredible opportunity to take what I’d learned (and endured) at Faraday Future and help steer things in a smarter direction. I think we did just that—delivering something that truly resonated with the modern outdoor adventurer.
Fun fact: When I joined Rivian, I was one of the first 100 employees. Back then, the brand didn’t even have a clear identity—it certainly wasn’t yet the go-to brand for outdoor explorers. Honestly, we were figuring it out as we went, working out of a dusty warehouse, driving RC cars around the shop floor. And when RJ wanted to rally the troops, he’d climb on top of four or five stacked shipping pallets to give a speech. Looking back now, it was chaotic, scrappy, and kind of magical.
